„Cadenţa inimii” de Saşa Pană

Poetul a iubit drumul printre spirale diafane
Nopţile cu cerul înflorat ca rochia dansatoarei
Sub crengile grele de privighetori
Cercei cu sidef cernut pe pântece
Şi-un cântăreţ infailibil ascuns într-un oscior cât înghiţitoarea
The poet has loved the way through diaphanous spirals
The nights of flowered skies like the dancer’s dress
Under branches heavy with nightingales
Earrings of sifted nacre on belly
And an infallible singer concealed in a little bone no bigger than the gullet
A rămas în urmă cu politica
Iubeşte crinii mângăierile onixul şi orizontul
Întâlniţi vii laolaltă
He is no abreast of political developments
He love lilies the onyx’s caresses and the skyline
Running into one another all alive
Amintirea miracolului rămâne închisă
În scrinul cu lacăt fragil al nostalgiei
Amintire templu clădit pentru a fi devastat
În urmă
un deget pe gură
o frunză presată
Poate un cuvânt poate inima de altădată
The memory of the miracle lies enshrined
In the chest with the fragile padlock of nostalgia
Memory a temple to be devastated
Thereafter
a finger on the lips
a pressed leaf
Maybe it was a word maybe the heart of bygone days
Un răspuns halucinaţiilor a murmurat cu frică
Să nu deştepte căuşul de lumină
Nardul încuiat în silueta de Sèvres
A iubitei
That murmured an answer to hallucinations timidly
Lest the scoop of light be roused
The myrrh locked up in the figure of Sèvres
Of the beloved one
Proaspătă ca roua dimineţelor de aprilie
Cu moliciuni calde
Oază aşteptată
As fresh as the dew of April mornings
All warm and mellow
A longed for oasis

„Cădere” de Ana Blandiana

S-au stins profeţii în pustie
Şi îngeri cu aripile-atârnând
Sunt duşi încolonaţi
Şi strânşi în pieţe.
Vor fi judecaţi în curând.
Vor fi întrebaţi: ce păcat
Le-a alungat făpturile din ceruri?
Ce vină? Ce trădare? Ce greşeală?
The prophets have perished in the wildernes
And the angels with drooping wings
Are marched in a column
And gathered in market places.
Soon they will be tried.
They will be asked: what sin
Has banished them from heaven?
What guilt? What treason? What treaspass?

„As Ye Came from the Holy Land” de Walter Raleigh

As ye came from the holy land
Of Walsinghame,
Met you not with my true love
By the way as you came?
Cum veneai dinspre Walsingham,
Pământ sfânt, colţ de rai,
Dragostea-mi n-ai întâlnit
Pe drum, cum veneai?

„Thomas The Rhymer”

True Thomas lay on Huntlie bank;
A ferlie he spied wi’ his e’e;
And there he saw a ladye bright
Come riding down by the Eildon Tree.
Şedea pe-un mal, în Huntly, Thomas
Şi-l cuprindea mare mirare;
Pe sub aripi, o doamnă-aleasă
Se-apropie de el călare.

„Sonnet I” de Edmund Spenser

Happy, ye leaves! when as those lily hands,
Which hold my life in their dead-doing might,
Shall handle you, and hold in love’s soft bands,
Like captives trembling at the victor’s sight.
And happy lines! on which, with starry light,
Those lamping eyes will deign sometimes to look,
And read the sorrows of my dying spright,
Written with tears in heart’s close-bleeding book.
And happy rhymes! bath’d in the sacred brook
Of Helicon, whence she derived is;
When ye behold that Angel’s blessed look,
My soul’s long-lacked food, my heaven’s bliss;
Leaves, lines, and rhymes, seek her to please alone,
Whom if ye please, I care for other none!
La ceasu-n care grijile se stâng,
S-a smuls din închisoarea de pământ
’Cest duh al meu, spre-a cugeta adânc
La toate ce-n răspărul firii sunt,
Ca aste vremi, în care tot ce-i bine
E lucru rar, sfiala-i umilită,
Vai, aste vremi de putrejune pline
Greu chinuie o inimă cinstită.
Şi gândurile astfel zăbovind,
Vedenii mi-apărură deodată,
Chiar gândurile mele zugrăvind,
Încât fiinţa-mi e cutremurată.
Priveşte-le, domniţă preafrumoasă:
Din ele adevăruri vor ieşi.

„Edward, Edward”

‘Why does your sword so drip with blood,
Edward, Edward?
Why does your sword so drip with blood?
And why so sad are ye, O?’
‘O, I have killed my hawk so good,
Mother, mother:
O I have killed my hawk so good:
And I had no more but he, O.’
De ce-ţi sângeră sabia şi-atât de urât,
Edward, Edward,
picură sângele din ea? Oare cât
de trist şi de ce eşti aşa mut, O!?
O! şoimul cel sprinten mi l-am omorât,
mamă, mamă;
O, şoimul cel drag mi-am ucis, doar atât
şi nu mai am altul, atât am avut, O!
