Noaptea-n Doma întristată, prin lumini îngălbenite
A făcliilor de ceară care ard lângă altare –
Pe când bolta-n fundul Domei stă întunecoasă, mare,
Nepătrunsă de-ochii roşii de pe mucuri ostenite,

Blackness of the cathedral dome, saddened by the yellow light
Of waxen candles shimmering, which burn before the altars face;
While in the dark and spacious vault, unpenetrated realms of space
Defy the tapers’ tired eyes that strain to probe unconquered night.

Cu perdelele lăsate,
Şed la masa mea de brad,
Focul pâlpâie în sobă,
Iară eu pe gânduri cad.

Cuvintele care i-au disperat pe americani în 2008

În fiecare an, Lake Superior State University din Michigan realizează o listă a cuvintelor şi expresiilor care au devenit agasante prin folosire greşită, excesivă sau fără rost. Ajunsă la a 34-a ediţie, lista pentru 2008 cuprinde o serie de 15 termeni, selectaţi din 5000 de nominalizări.
