I wish I were a herder of snowflakes I’d like to have large snow flocks in my care Which I shall have to drive across long skies And bring them whiter, purer, back from there. |
And pause and contemplate on tinkling nights The moon’s seduction, her enormous weep Echoed by clouds as by a temple’s walls, While my life passes and my white flocks sleep. |
And wait till summer then will sacrifice My lambkins destined to the sweet clay’s claim, While in the holy transhumance we merge Silent and guileless yet towards and aim. |
