body, bodily
În ciuda aparențelor, „bodily” nu este adverbul corespondent al substantivului „body” („trup”). Acest cuvânt, atunci când se referă la „body„, este doar adjectiv și înseamnă „trupesc”. Nefiind, în acest context, adverb, el nu înseamnă trupește, termen care trebuie redat în engleză printr-o parafrază: „in a bodily manner”.
Dar „bodily„, fără legătură cu „body„, este și adverb. Înseamnă „cu forța” sau „cu putere”. De exemplu: I had to drag my unruly son bodily out of the car.
Tot ca adverb, mai poate însemna și „în întregime” sau „în persoană”. Așadar, atenție la context!
