Întâlnire fatalistă
Or avea muşterii?
There are the Alps. What is there to say about them? They don’t make sense. Fatal glaciers, crags cranks climb, jumbled boulder and weed, pasture and boulder, scree, et l’on entend, maybe, le refrain joyeux et leger. Who knows what the ice will have scraped on the rock it is smoothing? |
Da, ăștia sunt Alpii. Putem oare spune ceva despre ei? Nu au nici un sens. Ghețari și crevase și creste și țancuri. . |
There they are, you will have to go a long way round if you want to avoid them. It takes some getting used to. There are the Alps, fools! Sit down and wait for them to crumble! |

„Ruin seize thee, ruthless King! Confusion on thy banners wait, Tho’ fann’d by Conquest’s crimson wing They mock the air with idle state. Helm, nor hauberk’s twisted mail, Nor even thy virtues, tyrant, shall avail To save thy secret soul from nightly fears, From Cambria’s curse, from Cambria’s tears!” Such were the sounds, that o’er the crested pride Of the first Edward scatter’d wild dismay, As down the steep of Snowdon’s shaggy side He wound with toilsome march his long array. Stout Glo’ster stood aghast in speechless trance; To arms! cried Mortimer, and couch’d his quiv’ring lance. |
He is dead, the beautiful youth, The heart of honor, the tongue of truth, He, the life and light of us all, Whose voice was blithe as a bugle-call, Whom all eyes followed with one consent, The cheer of whose laugh, and whose pleasant word, Hushed all murmurs of discontent. |
