„The Tyger” de William Blake
| Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night; What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy fearful symmetry? |
Tigru, tigru care arzi În ai nopţii codri-nalţi, Cine-a pus a lui vecie În temuta-ţi simetrie? |
| In what distant deeps or skies. Burnt the fire of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand, dare seize the fire? |
Pe ce pisc, pe care văi Arse foc din ochii tăi? Focul, spre ce culme duce? E vreo mână să-l apuce? |
| And what shoulder, and what art, Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? and what dread feet? |
Inima, puteri de peşteri Ţi-au durat-o? Sau ce meşteri? Bate numai - şi îndată Totu-i fugă-nfricoşată. |
| What the hammer? what the chain, In what furnace was thy brain? What the anvil? what dread grasp, Dare its deadly terrors clasp! |
Lanţ a fost, ciocan, ilău, De-a croit creierul tău? Cine-a strâns, cine-ndrăzneşte, Spaima ucigaşă-n cleşte? |
| When the stars threw down their spears And water’d heaven with their tears: Did he smile his work to see? Did he who made the Lamb make thee? |
Stelele cu lănci aruncă Sau e-n lacrimi bolta-adâncă? Cel ce te-a creat, la fel A surâs creând pe miel? |
| Tyger Tyger burning bright, In the forests of the night: What immortal hand or eye, Dare frame thy fearful symmetry? |
Tigru, tigru care arzi În ai nopţii codri-nalţi, Cine-a săgetat vecie În temuta-ţi simetrie? |
| William Blake | traducere de Cicerone Theodorescu |
