La finalul lui 2015, Oxford English Dictionary a anunţat o nouă rundă de noutăţi. O mie de termeni, cuvinte compuse şi expresii şi noi sensuri şi-au găsit locul în listele propuse de echipa editorială. Pentru a ţine pasul cu moda lingvistică în permanentă schimbare, echipa de lingvişti a ales unii dintre cei mai interesanţi termeni care au răzbit în listă.
De la „Antonite” (călugăr al Spitalului Fraţii Sf. Anton), datând de la sfârşitul secolului al XVII-lea, la „way!” (folosit ca răspuns hazliu pentru interjecţia „no way!”), toate acestea şi-au făcut apariţia în OED.

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year (the only members of the deer family, Cervidae, to have females do so), male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid December. Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring.
Therefore, according to every historical rendition depicting Santa’s reindeer, every single one of them, from Rudolf to Blitzen… had to be a girl.
We should’ve known. Only women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night, and not get lost.
