„The Lake Isle of Innisfree” de W.B. Yeats

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the mourning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
Acolo-i licăr noaptea şi-al zilei miez văpaie
Şi-i seara fâlfâit de cânepari.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.

When forty winters shall besiege thy brow
And dig deep trenches in thy beauty’s field,
Thy youth’s proud livery, so gazed on now,
Will be a tattered weed, of small worth held.
De patruzeci de ierni când să te-apropii
şi şanţuri s-or săpa în fruntea-ţi blândă,
semeţul strai ce azi ne umple ochii
va fi o buruiană tremurândă…
Then being asked where all thy beauty lies,
Where all the treasure of thy lusty days,
To say within thine own deep-sunken eyes
Were an all-eating shame and thriftless praise.
„Unde ţi-e harul, dacă îţi vor spune,
unde-i comoara zilelor de vlagă?”
să nu răspunzi că-n ochi. Deşertăciune
va fi cuvântul tău şi-or să-nţeleagă,
How much more praise deserved thy beauty’s use
If thou couldst answer „This fair child of mine
Shall sum my count and make my old excuse”,
Proving his beauty by succession thine.
slăvindu-ţi frumuseţea, doar în clipa
când vei rosti: „Copilul meu se cade
s-adune şi prisosul şi risipa,
urcând, el va ierta pe-acel ce scade…”
This were to be new made when thou art old,
And see thy blood warm when thou feel’st it cold.
Aceasta să te înnoieşti, se cheamă
cu sânge cald, când moartea-ţi cere vamă…

„The Gardener LXXXV” de Rabindranath Tagore

Who are you, reader, reading my poems an hundred years hence?
I cannot send you one single flower from this wealth of the spring, one single streak of gold from yonder clouds.
Open your doors and look abroad.
From your blossoming garden gather fragrant memories of the vanished flowers of an hundred years before.
In the joy of your heart may you feel the living joy that sang one spring morning, sending its glad voice across an hundred years.
