Lost Contact Lens
The teenager lost a contact lens while playing basketball in his driveway. After a fruitless search, he told his mother the lens was nowhere to be found. Undaunted, she went outside and in a few minutes returned with the lens in her hand.
„How did you manage to find it, Mom?” the teenager asked.
„We weren’t looking for the same thing,” she replied. „You were looking for a small piece of plastic. I was looking for $150.”

sight, site
Chiar şi vorbitorii nativi confundă uneori cuvintele „sight” şi „site„, dat fiind că seamănă atât ca ortografie, cât şi ca pronunţie.
Ambii termeni au atât valoare de substantiv, cât şi de verb.
Ca substantiv, „sight” este un lucru văzut. Ca verb, înseamnă „a ochi ceva” sau „a pune ochii pe ceva”.
„Site” vine din latinescul „situs” – loc, poziţie. Sensul principal pentru utilizatorii internetului este probabil „adresă web”. Ca verb, înseamnă „a atribui un loc”.
Contextul în care „site” se confundă uşor cu „sight” este legat de localizarea fizică.
