Broken Plates

Reisha was on the phone to Marina crying her eyes out as if her heart would break. „What’s wrong, Reisha?” Marina asked.

„My good China plates! My husband broke them!” she sobbed.

„He must have really been mad. How did he break them, honey?” Marina consoled.

Reisha howled over the phone, „I hit him over the head with them.”

Formal

One night as she prepared for bed, Jill rubbed her hands with petroleum jelly and covered them with an old pair of white gloves. As she sat in bed reading a book with her gloves on, her husband finished showering and came into the room wearing a towel.

Drying himself off, he went to the closet, selected a tie and started wearing it.

„What are you doing?” Jill asked.

„Well,” he replied, „if you are going to be formal, so am I.”

Grieving Widow

A lawyer was trying to console a weeping widow. Her husband had passed away without a will. „Did the deceased have any last words?” asked the lawyer.

„You mean right before he died?” sobbed the widow.

„Yes,” replied the lawyer. „They might be helpful if it’s not too painful for you to recall.”

„Well,” she began, „he said ‘Don’t try to scare me! You couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with that gun.'”

Mother’s Visit

Mrs. Jones was reading a letter at breakfast. Suddenly she looked up suspiciously at her husband.

„Henry,” she said, „I’ve just received a letter from mother saying she isn’t accepting our invitation to come and stay, as we do not appear to want her. What does she mean by that? I told you to write and say that she was to come at her own convenience. You did write, didn’t you?”

„Er, yes, I did,” said the husband. „But I couldn’t spell ‘convenience,’ so I made it ‘risk.”
