Unul dintre cele mai comune cuvinte din limba engleză este, desigur, „sky„. Însă acest substantiv este și verb, iar abia ca verb începe să devină un cuvânt neobișnuit pentru vorbitorii de limbă română.
Ca verb, „sky” înseamnă, în primul rând, a atârna un tablou foarte sus pe perete, mai ales în timpul unei expoziții, astfel încât iubitorilor de artă să li se pară oarecum dificil să-l poată privi pe îndelete. Iată cam în ce mod se poate folosi în acest sens: „The exhibition staff skied his painture as he was afraid they would do.”
Un al sens al lui verbului „sky” este acela de a arunca o minge cât mai sus posibil: „He skied the ball with vigour.„

An old rabbi is talking with one of his friends and says with a warm smile, „I gladdened seven hearts today.”
„Seven hearts?” asks the friend. „How did you do that?”
The rabbi strokes his beard and replies, „I performed three marriages.”
The friend looks at him quizzically. „Seven?” he asks. „I could understand six, but…”
„Well, I ask you,” says the rabbi, „do you think that I do this for free?”
